Most of the times when painting mountains, I paint them for winter with snow-covered peaks. One of the rarest times I ever do this, I’ve decided to paint the background mountains completely void of any snow. On a trip to the mountains not too long ago, I was shocked to see some of our big beautiful Canadian mountains without snow on their peaks at a time of the year when in time gone by these very same mountains would be completely covered with snow and people say there’s no global warming! This landscape painting has a warm late summer sky, some distant foliage, foreground spruce and birch trees. Dry Mountain, titled this because of the mountain’s lack of snow and moisture, is an original oil paint (not a print), which was painted on canvas panel using professional GRUMBACHER oils.
