AckeeThis is yet another one of the acrylic paintings I created for my aunts Jamaican restaurant. It is of the national fruit of Jamaica and is also known as achee, akee apple or akee (Blighia sapida) is a member of the Sapindaceae (soapberry family). Ackee and saltfish is a traditional Jamaican dish, known as Jamaica’s national dish. It spread to other countries with the Jamaican diaspora. The ackee fruit was imported to Jamaica from West Africa (probably on a slave ship) before 1778. It is also known as Blighia sapida.
